January 1944

I am Ruth's great niece.

Ruth wrote a diary most of her life - just a couple of sentences most days. Sadly I don't have all of her diaries but I do have 1944 and 1945 - and I have decided that I will create a blog replicating what she said, using her abbreviations, grammar etc to keep it as true to her spirit as possible.

I will be adding diary entries, pictures and background information over the next few weeks and months.

This is Ruth circa 1944

Ruth was the third youngest of 6 children. My Nan - Ida was her oldest sister. I was born in 1966 and never met Doris or John who had died before then but I do remember my Nan, (Ida), Neil and Betty.

Ruth was married to Kenneth Cavigan (Ken). They had no children of their own but my Mum, June, was a sort of adopted daughter as she lived with them from around the age of 10.

I will fill in any gaps I can along the way...

Ruth lived in Buckinghamshire, England.
